Senior Social Media Manager / Creative Strategist

ABOUT YOU

You’re a social media expert and lover of esports with a passion for storytelling, creativity, and strategy. 

You understand what makes content engaging and can craft compelling content that resonates with audiences. 

You have a deep knowledge of social platforms, trends, and analytics, and you know how to translate insights into impactful strategies. 

You will be at ease working within a tone of voice and bring enthusiasm and energy for the games that you cover.  

You’re proactive, adaptable, and always on the lookout for new ways to drive engagement and brand awareness. 

You are comfortable supporting and guiding junior Social Media Managers to ensure consistency of output. 

THE ROLE

The Social Media Manager/Creative Strategist will initially lead across our existing contract within esports but with the potential to further inform our social strategy as we grow our client offering.

You will manage, mentor, and support a small team of social media managers, ensuring alignment on goals, messaging, and brand voice. 

You will help build and engage a gaming community, growing brand presence, and driving fan interaction across multiple platforms. This role blends creativity, strategy, and an in-depth understanding of gaming culture, esports events, and audience behaviors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team

    • Set clear goals for the team, ensuring content and campaigns drive engagement, growth, and brand awareness.

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team, providing guidance and feedback.

    • Foster a collaborative and creative environment where team members feel empowered to pitch ideas and experiment with content.

    • Manage workloads, set priorities, and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.

  • Create Engaging Content

    • Create, schedule, and publish content across social platforms for an esports news site, maintaining consistency and high quality.

    • Take a creative approach to campaigns by crafting engaging posts, memes, and videos that captivate and energise our audience.

    • Edit (and sometimes shoot) short-form videos and photos to keep fans up to date with news cycles, tournaments, and player announcements 

  • Build Community Engagement

    • Find innovative ways to engage with followers on platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

    • Bring a personality that fosters interaction with the various channels

  • Tell Our Story

    • Work with internal teams to re-purpose existing editorial content.

    • Use your creative thinking to align social content with the overarching brand and marketing goals.

  • Achieve Results

    • Use insights to track the success of your posts and campaigns, refining strategies to maximise engagement and performance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in social media management / creative strategy.

  • Excellent knowledge of social platforms, such as Twitter, YouTube, Instagram & TikTok.

  • Proficiency in shooting and editing short-form videos, such as experience with Adobe Premiere or CapCut.

  • A deep understanding of esports and gaming, particularly Counter Strike, Valorant, DOTA & League of Legends.

  • Excellent organisational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently execute campaign plans.

  • Creativity in experimenting with trends, memes, and formats to engage audiences.

  • Strong relationship-building skills to foster genuine community bonds.

  • Experience with social media scheduling tools.

  • Be open to working non-traditional working hours when needed to stay on top of the esports events calendar.
