5 best games creators that you must follow on TikTok

TikTok is now an integral part of the community and marketing mix for any games brand. Not only because it is the quickest-growing social platform (stat blast) but also because its algorithm rewards great content rather than previous social reach, like some other platforms.

In other words, if you can make great content about your game or gaming in general then you can reach a lot of people without having to grow a massive community first.

How do you make great content that appeals to the right people?

There are thousands of articles and podcasts that, usually for a subscription or a white paper download, will unlock the collective wisdom of the internet and provide you with the answer to all your TikTok strategy-related questions. I should know I have read and listened to a lot of them and they start to blur into each other over time.

I have always followed a more agile approach and prefer to learn, trial and then adapt, rather than bet the house on a best guess. Or, as a wise man once, said, “Fire Bullets, Then Cannonballs”. With that in mind, I thought the best solution was to watch a lot of TikTok and ask my colleagues here at Fourth Floor who also watch an obscene amount of gaming content on TikTok (and other platforms) who they thought did the best Tik Tok gaming content out there.

So with no further ado, I give you my list of the 5 best games creators that you must follow on TikTok today. I completely reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow and to come up with a new list but as of today at 11.55am GMT this was my list.

What do you mean you haven't heard of Shotgun Farmers? To tell the truth, neither had I till I came across this TikTok account and it sucked me in. This is how great gaming social channels should be run and if you only follow one after reading this article I suggest that it is this one. It really is compelling stuff and it feels like the developer is involving their community in every design choice and nuance of the game.

My fave moments are when the developer just whips out their camera to take a quick film of a new gameplay element on Switch (actually my real fave moment was when I spotted that they owned a Super Famicom in the background of one of the videos).

Trayracers

No one said this was going to be a list of the biggest TikTok channels just my favourites. The game isn’t even out yet but I already feel bought into it. My current favourite post is the really light touch one they made on how they use stones in a rubber tray to make sound effects for the game. It really feels like you are seeing inside the developer's head.

Some people may suggest it is because the voiceover artist is from my neck of the woods and that I am a little biased but to those people I say, get lost this is my list… go write your own.

Champion of the underdog, the maligned, the misunderstood and the forgotten, and that is just the music that these folks choose to support their guides to the most underrated gems that can be found on Game Pass, PlayStation+ and other services.

What makes this is that they do their own voice-over and don’t use the robotic ‘generobot’ voice that most people use to read out closed captions on TikTok. Seek out the post where they accept a duet challenge from a bikini streamer or where they show gameplay from the POV of the TV and enjoy.

This account makes me laugh out loud, especially the post about life being short and that you should close your JIRA’s. It does us all good to take a long hard look at how we work and, well just laugh from time to time.

I would recommend you follow this account and send it to your friends who think that working in the games industry is just one long gameplay session with endless free soda and cookies.

amongus

OK, so I know you all know about this one and I tried to write this without including AmongUs but the channel is just awesome and their content is great. (They also have a big blue tick…tock).

There is a reason that Innersloth has the poster child TikTok channel for games, and that is because they work really hard at it and post some amazing content. The channel never seems to miss a meme and whether you play the game or not the content is funny and entertaining in its own right.
